One of Colombia's most dramatic scenes is at Santuario de Las Lajas. This stunning Gothic Revival basilica was built inside a canyon. It's connected to the other side of the canyon by a 160 ft. tall bridge.
There has been a shrine on the site since at least the mid-18th century, after an apparition of the Virgin Mary was spotted on the cliffside in 1754. The current church was built between 1916 and 1949.
Las Lajas is located in Southwest Colombia near the city of Ipiales. The border with Ecuador is only a few miles away.
You can add Las Lajas to any customized tour, and we can even take you into Ecuador.
