Playa Blanca is considered one of the most beautiful beaches not only in Colombia, but in all of South America. With powdery white sand and crystal clear waters of several shades of blue, it's the kind of beach people dream about.
The beach is easily accessible from Cartagena, and the easiest way to get there is by boat. Organized day trips leave from the docks near the historic walled city at around 8:30am and arrive at the beach in about an hour.
Visitors have until about 3:30pm to enjoy the beach. A delicious lunch usually consisting of fried fish, coconut rice, salad, and patacón (fried plantain) is included.
It can be very crowded and loud where the boats drop off the tourists. Our advice - walk about 10 or 15 minutes down the beach and you'll have it mostly to yourself! Just make sure you watch the clock and get back to the boat in time to head back to Cartagena.
Visit Playa Blanca on any of our tours that pass through Cartagena, or add it to a customized tour.
