Plaza Botero, in the center of Medellín, is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city. Scattered around the plaza are 23 bronze sculptures by Colombian artist and Medellín native Fernando Botero.
Botero depicts people and objects using exaggerated volume, usually for political criticism or humor. His works are found in parks and museums all over the world. The sculptures at Plaza Botero were donated to the city by the artist in 2004.
Sitting on Plaza Botero is the Museo de Antioquia, which is the 2nd oldest museum in Colombia. Several more of Botero's works, mostly paintings, can be found in the museum. A few of them depict the death of Pablo Escobar.
