Colombia makes wine? Yes!
As a tropical country, Colombia doesn't exactly come to mind as a wine producing country, but one Colombian wine producer is out to change that.
Viñedo Ain Karim near Villa de Leyva has been producing its Marqués de Villa de Leyva label since the 1990s with vines imported from France and Napa Valley. They believe the cooler climate around Villa de Leyva and soils rich in minerals are the perfect combination for producing wine.
A visit to the vineyard includes a 30 minute tour followed by a wine tasting with generous pours. Afterwards, you can sit on the patio and enjoy a glass of wine with a tabla of wine and cheese.
